Training and experience –
After 20years working in community mental
health services, I re-trained as a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist.
I have 21years experience working in private practice, and also work
as a supervisor of counsellors and psychotherapists. I have also completed
a further 2 year training in holistic healing, being an Associate member
of the College of Healing.
The Therapy
I offer medium and long term
psychotherapy to individual men and women experiencing recurring emotional
problems that affect ability to make decisions, sustain relationships
or manage work situations.
I have a particular interest in chronic physical problems that impact on emotional state, and am experienced in working with eating disorders and childhood sexual abuse, and depression.
Clients may self refer, and after an initial session, contract for five further sessions which may be sufficient to clarify short-term issues for the client, but also allow a deeper level of assessment and opportunity to test the effectiveness of the therapeutic relationship for the client. Longer term therapy is usually for a minimum of 18 months and probably three years or more.
